Hospes Palacio del Bailio, Cordoba

I really liked this hotel which was a characterful blend of historical and modern style. It was surprisingly comfortable and when we had problems with a noisy room above the kitchens they moved us immediately. The rooms were spacious with a contemporary feel, each complimented by older architectural features such as wooden eaves or stone walls.
The modern bathrooms were very impressive, as were the public spaces of the hotel.

The public spaces had gorgeous modern interiors
Our luxurious bathroom.
The garden at the back of the hotel was lovely, I wish it had been warm enough to take a dip in the pool. Instead we relaxed and I had tea here in the late afternoon.

One of the highlights of our stay was an hour in the underground Roman  spa. With pools of three different temperatures in a L shaped layout it was stunning. They were kind enough to reserve a time for us to use it privately for one hour and while there is no guarantee that they will be able to do this we were very grateful that they accommodated us. This was one of the most atmospheric spas I have visited. I didn't take any pictures because it was very steamy but here is a picture from their website site.
Tip: I recommend booking through i-escape for additional amenities. They matched the best rate and we were given a  complimentary 20 minute massage . I was able to upgrade to a 50 minute massage for only forty Euro which seemed very reasonable for a spa of this quality.

I want to tell you about the restaurant too, but I'll leave it for the next post...
