Spa at Solage Resort, Napa Valley

The Spa is the reason to visit Solage, it's a wonderful facility with pools heated by the natural mineral water that Calistoga is famous for.

In addition to the main mineral pool at the spa (pictured above) there are two separate, gender segregated, clothing optional areas.  As you can see below, the women's section has an enormous jacuzzi. It's wonderful and is warmer than the main mineral pool. I spent a lot of time in here! We visited in the middle of the week in January and the place was empty, fabulous!

There is a eucalyptus steam room and cold plunge in both the men's and women's sections.

The entire place is very tastefully designed with comfortable seating and waiting areas with magazines, tea and iced water.

In addition to the spa, guests have access to the rota of fitness classes including pilates reformer classes. . This was the first time I had ever seem machine pilates classes offered free to hotel guests. I had to sign up the day before but I went to two 8am reformer classes much to my own astonishment! It was so much fun to ry something new.

Summary: When I think about our winter stay the spa was the main attraction. I soaked in the hot mineral pools for hours, relaxing, drinking tea and then steaming, highly recommended. While I may not rush back to stay here, I could certainly see booking a massage in order to enjoy the spa facilities.

Tip: Our package which was booked through Luxury Link included  access to the spa, this isn't always included in the room rate so check what is included in your booking. At a hotel like this I think it's a little money grubbing to charge guests extra to use the spa though lots of places do it these days.
